So on Sunday me, Chanel and Hilde went skydiving. We had decided earlier in the week that we wanted to do it and this was to be the day! I have wanted to go skydiving for sooo long and what better place to do it than in beautiful Plett with some new friends?!
I thought I would be nervous, and I was but I wasn't as nervous as I thought I would be. I had calmed down before getting on the (tiny!) plane, and then got more nervous as we went up but I wasn't a complete mess. The worst part was when we got to 10000ft and the door opened. I think what shocked me the most was the noise! You can see on the video that was taken by the guy I was jumping with that I properly flinch when the door opens, it's really embarrassing!! The next worst bit was watching Hilde who was going ahead of me, jump out. It just made me think 'holy crap bags that's me next!!'. I then shuffled over to the edge, dangled my legs over the wheel of the plane and my partner basically pushed us out.
There are no words to describe the feeling of free falling. It is the most incredible, crazy, amazing sensation! The free fall lasted 36 seconds and again I didn't feel terrified. I was a bit worried before I jumped that I wouldn't be able to breath but you easily can, you just have to remember to! My face on the video looks really scared but I didn't feel I was. I think I was more just completely unprepared as to what it would feel like to jump out of a plane at 10000ft!!!
Once my guy pulled the parachute it was actually pretty relaxing and the feeling of soaring through the air is awesome. It was over far too quickly and I SO want to do it again!! It's just a shame it's so expensive!! I am contemplating doing a bungee jump but I'm not sure. It's something about the thought of plummeting towards the ground head first that's putting me off! But we'll see, I may do it yet!
